## Weekly class limit memberships, built in

MatSync lets martial arts gyms, BJJ academies and dojos sell memberships with a weekly class limit. Choose any number from 1 to 14 group classes per week, so a “Twice a week” or “3× a week” plan sits next to your unlimited membership and class packs as a plan of its own, not a workaround.

The limit lives on the plan. MatSync counts each member’s group class bookings from Monday to Sunday in your club’s time zone and stops further bookings once the weekly allowance is used. No spreadsheet and no checking at the front desk.

Everything else about the membership works as usual: one-time or recurring billing, discounts, manual assignment and the plan period you choose.

## Why gyms offer 2× and 3× a week memberships

- A lower entry price for beginners and busy adults who train twice a week, with a natural upgrade path to unlimited.
- Clear membership tiers on your pricing page, for example 2× a week, 3× a week and unlimited.
- Kids programs that match how often families actually come, such as a kids plan for two classes a week.
- A monthly price instead of counting class credits, for members who train on a steady schedule.

## Weekly limit, unlimited or class pack?

- Unlimited membership: any number of group classes for the plan period.
- Weekly class limit: a fixed number of group classes each week for a monthly or longer price. Unused classes do not roll over.
- Class pack: a set number of classes that members use one booking at a time, suited to drop-ins and irregular schedules.
- You can offer all three in MatSync, and a member on a capped plan can top up with a class pack in a busy week.

## How the weekly limit is counted

- Weeks run Monday to Sunday in your club’s time zone, and the count starts again every Monday.
- Active and completed group class bookings count, including no-shows.
- Cancelling a booking frees the slot for that week.
- Private lessons never count toward the weekly limit.
- Once the limit is reached, an eligible class pack can pay for an extra class.
- If a member also holds an unlimited membership, the unlimited plan applies.

## How to set it up

1. Open Plans & pricing in the MatSync dashboard and click Create plan.
2. Choose Membership, then pick the payment type, disciplines, age group and plan period.
3. In the Training frequency step, choose Limited per week and set the number of classes, for example 2.
4. Add the price and create the plan. It appears in your plan list labelled “2× per week”.

## Questions

### How many classes per week should a BJJ membership include?

Many academies offer two or three classes a week next to an unlimited plan. MatSync lets you choose any limit from 1 to 14 group classes per week, so the tiers can match your own timetable and pricing.

### What happens when a member reaches their weekly limit?

They can book again when the new week starts on Monday. If they hold an eligible class pack, an extra class that week is paid from the pack instead.

### Can a kids program have a weekly class limit?

Yes. Any membership plan can have a weekly limit, including kids plans such as “Kids twice a week”.

### Does it work with recurring billing and discounts?

Yes. The weekly limit only controls bookings. Billing, family and new-member discounts and manual assignment work the same as on any other membership.

### Can I change the limit on an existing plan?

Not yet. The limit is fixed when the plan is created so it never silently changes what current members can book. Create a new plan for a different limit.

### Do private lessons count toward the limit?

No. Only group classes are counted, and private lessons are never limited by a weekly cap.
